Headway Worcester Trust Limited, in partnership with Worcestershire County Council Social Services, Supporting People and Shaftesbury Housing, are offering supported accommodation for adults with disabilities at Dickinson Court. Dickinson Court is a large, attractive courtyard, split into two by a brook. There are four cottages, four bungalows and 25 two-bedroom ground floor and first floor flats and an assessment flat. All accommodation is self-contained and unfurnished. There is also a staff flat, office and a community room with kitchen and laundry facilities. Dickinson Court is a 34 unit specialist housing project which aims to provide supported accommodation for people between the ages of 18 and 60, with varying housing needs. The aim is to provide a social mix of general and special needs housing in order to provide an integrated housing complex for individuals from a variety of service user groups, to include people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health needs and acquired brain injury. The aim of Dickinson Court is to enable people to live as independently as possible in the community. It is expected that tenants will come from residential homes, psychiatric hospital, living with family, or that they will be already living in the community, but would benefit from the more supported environment provided by Dickinson Court.
20 Brickfields Road
Headway Worcester Trust Limited, in partnership with Worcestershire County Council Social Services and Supporting People are offering supported accommodation for adults with acquired brain injury at Brickfields Road, Worcester Brickfields Road is a bungalow that has been purchased by Headway Worcester Trust. It caters for four clients with a brain injury who have complex needs. Each person has their own tenancy agreement and the same rights as anyone in the community. All tenants have their own double bedroom and share the kitchen, bathroom, sitting room, conservatory and garden. There are the equivalent of six full time members of staff to support tenants to access community facilities. The staff work on a rota basis and cover 24 hours a day on site. The aim of Brickfields Road is to enable people to live as independently as possible. It is expected that tenants will come from residential homes, hospital or living with the family, but would benefit from the more supported environment provided by Brickfields Road.
13 Ranelagh Road
Headway Worcester Trust Limited, in partnership with Worcestershire County Council Social Services, Supporting People and Shaftesbury Housing and Nexus Housing are offering supported accommodation for adults with disabilities at Ranelagh Road, Malvern. Ranelagh Road is a large development of 17 flats and 3 bungalows. All accommodation is self-contained and unfurnished but fridges, cookers and appropriate floor coverings are provided. There is also a staff bedroom, community room with kitchen facilities, laundry and drying room and a site office Ranelagh Road is a refurbished 20 unit specialist housing project which aims to provide supported accommodation for people between the ages of 18 and 60, with varying housing needs. The aim is to provide a social mix of general and special needs housing in order to provide an integrated housing complex for individuals with mental health needs and acquired brain injury. The aim of Ranelagh Road is to enable people to live as independently as possible in the community. It is expected that tenants will come from residential homes, psychiatric hospital, living with family, or that they will be already living in the community, but are currently not coping very well and would benefit from the extra support provided by Ranelagh Road.

Brick Kiln Street is an attractive courtyard development of four ground floor flats and three first floor flats. All accommodation is self-contained and unfurnished. There is also access to the staff office and laundry facilities. The aim of Brick Kiln Street is to enable people with acquired brain injury, between the ages of 18 and 60, to live as independently as possible in the community. Brick Kiln is a purpose built specialist-housing scheme for those individuals with varying housing needs. The aim is to provide a social mix of general and special needs housing to provide an integrated housing complex for people with an acquired brain injury. It is expected that tenants will come from residential homes, hospital, living with family or that they will be already living in the community, but are currently not coping very well and would benefit from extra support provided by Brick Kiln.
TO BECOME A TENANTIf you have a disability and are interested in living at any of the above sites, you need to obtain the support of your social worker. If you do not have a social worker you can contact us direct at any of the sites. We can arrange for you to visit to see if you like the complex and feel that you would fit in. Together with Social Services, we will assess whether living in this type of supported accommodation will be beneficial to you. WAITING LIST Due to the popular demand for this type of supported accommodation, it is unlikely that you will be given a place immediately, but if accepted you will be able to put your name on our waiting list. PROCEDUREThe social worker and the centre manager will discuss the type and amount of support that each tenant requires. Following this, a care package will be set in place before the tenant moves in. Support provided by on site staff will be along the lines of planning, organisation, managing money and paying bills, prompting with medication and appointments, prompting with all domestic and household tasks, reassurance and emotional support. Meeting neighbours is actively encouraged while leisure activities and social clubs take place in the community room, as well as off site. Tenants are supported to integrate in order to improve social skills and confidence and reduce isolation and loneliness. The staff team provide 24 hour on site cover and each property is fitted with an emergency alarm call system. If required, additional support will be provided by other agencies, such as community psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists and speech therapists, social workers, volunteers, home support workers and home care. MOVING ONAfter regaining skills and becoming more capable, some tenants feel able to move on to fully independent living, away from our sites. Tenants moving on will be supported by local staff and a Headway out-reach worker or out-reach from an appropriate team.
