More Information
TO BECOME A TENANT
If you have a disability and are interested in living at any of the
above sites, you need to obtain the support of your social worker.
If you do not have a social worker you can contact us direct at
any of the sites. We can arrange for you to visit to see if you like
the complex and feel that you would fit in. Together with Social
Services, we will assess whether living in this type of supported
accommodation will be beneficial to you.
WAITING LIST
Due to the popular demand for this type of supported
accommodation, it is unlikely that you will be given a place
immediately, but if accepted you will be able to put your name on
our waiting list.
PROCEDURE
The social worker and the centre manager will discuss the type
and amount of support that each tenant requires. Following this, a
care package will be set in place before the tenant moves in.
Support provided by on site staff will be along the lines of
planning, organisation, managing money and paying bills,
prompting with medication and appointments, prompting with all
domestic and household tasks, reassurance and emotional
support.
Meeting neighbours is actively encouraged while leisure activities
and social clubs take place in the community room, as well as off
site. Tenants are supported to integrate in order to improve social
skills and confidence and reduce isolation and loneliness.
The staff team provide on site cover and each property is fitted
with an emergency alarm call system. If required, additional
support will be provided by other agencies, such as community
psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists and speech therapists,
social workers, volunteers, home support workers and home care.
MOVING ON
After regaining skills and becoming more capable, some tenants
feel able to move on to fully independent living, away from our
sites. Tenants moving on will be supported by local staff and a
Headway out-reach worker or out-reach from an appropriate
team.
